6" x 8" Oil on RayMar Canvas Panel
On the last day of the Calvin Liang workshop, the weatherman said that it would be raining by nightfall. We all watched the sky anxiously and hoped that the storm would hold off until after the workshop was over. Although it got really cold about lunchtime most of us bundled up with layer after layer and kept on painting. I finished up my first painting and started this little 6"x8". I decided to try to capture some of the other rock formations down the cliff from where we were in Heisler Park. The waves were crashing against all of the rocks and the riotous foam drained down from them with beautiful colors and forms.
Calvin reminded me to vary my shapes and make sure not to repeat similar shapes, values, colors or edges. The workshop was a great success and little by little the painters finished up, thanked Calvin and headed out to avoid the coming storm.
