On Thursday we lost our best dog -- our friend, Rocky.

He got really really sick on Sunday and despite the efforts of a good veterinary hospital, he wasn't able to recover.

I haven't felt much like doing anything since he got sick. I know he's  a dog -- not a person... but he was part of our family and we all miss him.

Anyhow.. Today I felt like painting, but I wasn't in the mood for the landscape I had already started a while back.  I thought I would work on a little dog painting.  Last year I had painted a painting of Rocky just to celebrate him but now I just am not ready to paint anMy Friend Rocky by Marian Fortunatiother.  I'm just too sad.

I decided to paint another dog.  I had seen the funny looking dog you see at the top of this blog a while back and I've always thought it would be fun to try to paint him.  Flash was just too cute not to enjoy painting!  He's not my dog, but he does have someone else's heart!  And just looking at him makes you smile... always a good thing.

Rocky will be in our hearts always. Our sad feelings are just a reminder that all of us need to appreciate each moment and enjoy every experience.  Life is precious and fleeting.
