CLOUD PAINTING BY TOM BROWN

“Capture the fugitives,” I tell students, “before they escape.” Passing clouds are an example. They can disappear long before the painting is finished so it’s important to capture them at the start. That’s what I did in this painting during a workshop I taught for other plein air painters.

We baked in hot sun, then shivered when briskly moving clouds covered the sky. The weather itself provided the inspiration for this one painted on location at Pioneer Park last Saturday morning.

I call this 6x8 inch oil painting “ESCAPE ARTISTS”. Thanks for looking, and have a day filled with sunshine. As always, comments are welcome: tombrownstudio@cox.net
