This oil on canvas painting is the beginning of my 'Fluid Dynamics' series of oil paintings, inspired by summer visits to the Yuba River in Sierra County.  The larger canvases range in size from 20" x 16" to 6 1/2 ft. tall!  This small painting was the beginning of the series in which I was working out the color palette for some of the paintings.  You can see the series in an online gallery , "Abstracts from Life", on my website   :   h e r e

I was very pleased with this little painting, it captures the movement of the river flows in an abstract way.   The paint application on the painting surface varies from washy thin areas (lower right) to heavier impasto brushstrokes (the lime green leaf shapes, left side).  It is mounted on black panel, with the sides painted black, ready to hang.  The design of this little piece worked, don't you think?
