TRUCK, MORNING LIGHT 7x5 inch OIL by TOM BROWN

I was inspired by the reflection of the sunrise on the back window of this truck and the way the golden sunlight made the distant homes seem as if they were glowing. I did a quick pencil sketch to help "freeze" the image I had in mind, because I knew the light would change rapidly as I painted. Then I selected a Masonite panel that was primed with gray gesso and began the painting with the part that interested me most: the back of the cab of this truck.

The light did begin changing as I painted but my pencil sketch kept me on track. I was very pleased with the way this one turned out, and I feel it captured the moment perfectly. I hope you like it too. I thought it would be interesting to show the sketch and a snapshot of the scene taken as I painted this, plus a couple of stages in the early part of the painting. Enjoy!
