A Pleasant Plein Air Experience
In the meantime, I DID manage to go out painting last week. The California Art Club's Ventura / Malibu Chapter paint out was last Wednesday and I headed off happily to meet my friends at the beach. The weather which hasn't been great lately, was gorgeous until I was almost to the beach, heading down the steep mountain grade into Malibu. All of a sudden, I was in the midst of a total white-out! Seriously, I couldn't even see the line in the road! I thought to myself... "Self...do you REALLY want to paint in the fog?"... Despite all the fun I have painting with friends, I turned right around and headed back through the mountains to Peter Strauss Ranch. There I had a great time painting near the stream. The beautiful yellow green algae bloom added bright color to the lively reflections in the stream. I called my friend, Diane Nelson-Gold, who usually starts a bit later than I do - (I love cell phones). She joined me and we chatted and painted happily until I had to go pick up Tyler after school. Diane stayed to finish up then headed off to Point Dume where the CAC group had met. By that time the June gloom had totally burned off and she said it was fabulously beautiful and clear!!!
Life is good! I plan to enjoy as much of it as I can!!
