Pelican Bay, the scene in this painting, is a popular safe harbor along Santa Cruz Island in the Channel Islands National Park. Santa Cruz is the largest of the islands and has many beautiful spots filled with light and beautiful sea caves, interesting and varied vegetation and sea life. Although we will probably revisit Santa Cruz, we will also be hiking and painting on nearby Santa Rosa Island. I am so excited to be leaving for the islands to paint with 20 artist friends very soon!
I am thrilled that my work was juried into
two shows recently. They both have opening receptions THIS WEEKEND! If you are anywhere near the area, I think both shows will be very interesting and you might enjoy seeing all of the art being displayed.

Unfortunately, I will miss both openings, but I am not at all unhappy about the reason I will miss them. I will be painting on and off a boat at the Channel Islands in California from Friday until Wednesday night. In the meantime I hope you too will be doing something wonderful..... perhaps going to an art show opening!!! :o)
