Sometimes we forget to look for inspiration close to home. We get caught up in the search and forget the treasures we have near at hand.
Caballero Canyon is a hop skip and a jump from my home. It is a beautiful little canyon which nestles alongside and below Reseda Blvd. as it stretches up the mountain toward Mulholland Drive. There is a trail head about a half mile from my door which dips down into the canyon. Mountain bikers often pass by as do plenty of hikers. Serious hikers could start in Caballero Canyon and walk all the way across the mountains to Will Rogers State Park. I've done it once.
Never the less it is always a lovely canyon --- changing with the seasons as do all natural spaces. I think, however, that fall when the sycamores are turning is my favorite.
Monday was a free day. The weather was warm and dry although rain was forecast for later in the week. I dropped Tyler off for school and heading into the canyon for a lovely morning of painting. What a joy!
