This little guy was curious... or perhaps he thought I had a treat for him, so he kept coming closer to where I was peering into the pen to take a look ... or receive an offering. I'm not sure WHY there are donkeys at Pierce. Except that they are kind of cute and the students and visitors to the campus like to see them.
I painted this one over a failed painting I had started at Pierce. It was horrible, so I just sanded it down and painted Mr. Donkey over it. It can be seen at La Galeria Gitana, as part of the group show, "Rural Remnants of the San Fernando Valley". The show will be up until the end of the year so if you're in San Fernando, please drop by and enjoy the art and say hi to Karen, the curator/director of the gallery.
I thought these were really funny and since they were there at the college, I decided that this was a donkey with a degree -- a smart ass -- so to speak.
