High Desert Autumn 11x14 Pastel by Joe Mancuso

The weather has turned cool recently at least by our standards here at the beach and I'm certainly enjoying it. It feels more like autumn now. I follow the seasons as much as possible in my work. They affect my mood very much and this in turn shows up in my paintings. That's not to say I won't paint a summer scene in winter but I certainly am aware of the slightest changes in the seasons especially because they are so slight here in Southern Cal. It is a wonderful thing to be able to express how I feel visually and I have much more work
to do that this season is inspiring so it's time to get busy.

This pastel is a recent demonstration for my pastel class.
