This is a demo started in a class a few months ago. Finished this weekend. These boats were tied up in a busy urban harbor in South America. I decided yesterday to turn it into a tropical scene. Guess I'm in the mood for a vacation. Watercolor on Arches 300# cold press 10-1/2 x 14"

On Ice - A "Fish Painting" by Marian Fortunati
Sometimes painting opportunities come from odd places.
This is one of the beautifully ugly fish that my husband caught on his last fishing adventure.
The rock cod tasted great too!

It's nice sometimes to just paint something
because you want to paint it. I remembered several teachers who had
painted crustaceans and fish and thought this might be a fun challenge
so I decided to paint the cod when my husband brought it home from a
fishing trip. There was also an extremely odd-looking ling cod that
might have made a great painting as well, but, I just wanted to work on
something colorful and quick.
