Sometimes I just have fun playing with paint.

I used two different photo references from a trip I took aboard a 50 foot sailboat to the British Virgin Islands (The BVI) to create the sketch for this painting.   My daughter and I had soooooooo much fun on this trip!!!  It was exotic, exciting and beautiful.   It was one of those memories that will never fade.

I find that I enjoy working with a palette knife.  I suppose the more I do it, the better I'll get!  As I was creating this colorful scene, I thought it might look as exotic as the place that inspired it.

The Marsh by Janet Bludau, Abstract Landscapes by California Artists

The Marsh was inspired by a recent trip to the Carolinas -  What beautiful states.
I took quite a few photos along the coast, in regional parks and in the cities of Charleston,
 Summerville and Asheville.
The photo used for this painting was in a huge park just north of Charleston.
Painting measures 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" and is framed in a chunky, contemporary frame.
Total size is 11" x 11" x 1 7/8"
$150

Here She Comes by Janet Bludau - Abstract Seascape Paintings

11" x 14" Oil on Canvas
Framed in a simple Floater frame of blond colored wood, this painting was created almost entirely with palette knives.  It therefore has a sumptuous, thickly painted look with a touch of red at the horizon line.

Just email me to be sent a photo of this painting in the frame.
